WELCOME TO OFF PLUS CAMERA 2010 VIRTUAL PRESSROOM
OFF PLUS CAMERA, the annual film festival organized by the OFF CAMERA Society for Independent and Other Arts and the Krakow Festival Office, is dedicated to the promotion and development of independent Polish and international cinema. It is the only festival to gain partnership with the largest single event of independent cinema in the world, the Sundance Film Festival. The 3rd annual OFF PLUS CAMERA Festival will take place from April 16th to the 25th in Krakow, and the program will include the screening of over 100 feature films as well as meetings with filmmakers, discussion panels, film workshops, concerts, and exhibitions.
The most important event of the festival is “Making Way”, the main competition in which twelve international films produced in the last year will compete for the Krakow Film Award of $100,000, the largest award of this type in the world. As OFF PLUS CAMERA emphasizes the work of notable directors in its program, the winner of the competition will be selected by an international jury comprised of well-known directors in the world of indpendent cinema.
Another award to be given during the OFF PLUS CAMERA Festival is the Polish Film Noble, with an accompanying prize of $10,000 sponsored by Noble Bank. This award emphasizes the connection of the media to cinema, and so journalists accredited by the festival will be selecting the winner. The first ever Polish Film Noble award went to Alex Holdridge for “In Search of a Midnight Kiss”, and Oren Moverman won the following year’s award for his film “The Messenger”. OFF PLUS CAMERA’s aim of including the Polish Film Noble Award in the program is not only to encourage fruitful discussion amongst journalists themselves, but also to promote constructive interactions between journalists and filmmakers participating in the Krakow festival.
As we value this cooperation with journalists and see the exchange of views as vital to the world of independent cinema, we are are excited to invite you to file for Festival Press Accreditation and to actively participate in the diverse events of the festival.
See You in Krakow!
